WHAT IS PILATES PLUS?
Pilates Plus is a highly acclaimed full body training technique that strengthens, tightens and tones the entire body quickly and safely. It is an integrated combination of traditional pilates, that lengthens and stretches the muscles, strength training and cardio. The 55 minute small group class environment helps to achieve optimal personal fitness.
|
I
HAVE NEVER DONE PILATES, CAN I DO THE CLASSES? OR SHOULD I DO
PRIVATE SESSIONS FIRST?
It depends on your current fitness level. 99% of our members excel in the group classes, the workout is intense but the routines are kept simple to ensure everyone uses appropriate form. However, if you have chronic back pain, painful joints, a severe medical condition or have not been physically active in the past, it is recommended to take a private session to asses your fitness level. |
WHAT
SHOULD I BRING TO CLASS?
1. Most importantly, bring a positive attitude. Leave all your worries behind. The class is for you. You need to be present minded when working out to maximize the benefits of the class.
2. Although we have a water fountain, students like to bring their own water.
3. Wear loose, comfortable clothes that allow your muscles to stretch and your skin to "breathe".
4. Socks with grippers are required to take pilates classes. They are sold at the studio for $12.00.
5. Jewelry is NOT a good idea.
6. No cell phones during classes (please be respectful of others).
7. No strong perfumes as some students are allergic.
8. If you are about to renew, please bring your payment. Most of our clientele pay online using our automated system. Please understand that no classes can be confirmed if you’re not prepaid. |
HOW
OFTEN SHOULD I PRACTICE PILATES PLUS?
The
workout is designed to work your body to muscle fatigue
at which point you need to rest.
Depending on your fitness level and the intensity of your
workout, you will need more or less time to recover. I
would recommend 2 to 3 times a week to allow your body
to properly recover and repair. Some students love the
workout so much that they come 5 or 6 times a week. Listen
to your body. |
WHAT
IF I CAN'T COME TO CLASS AND I HAVE ALREADY BEEN CONFIRMED?
WILL I BE CHARGED?
Yes, even if it's your first time. If you are a monthly unlimited member there are two types of cancellation charges, Late Cancel and No Show. A Late Cancel charge will occur if you cancel within 8 hours of the scheduled class time, this charge is $15. A No Show charge occurs when you are signed up for a class and do not attend, this charge is $25. If you are a package member and cancel within 8 hours of the class or do not show for the class you will loose the session. NO EXCEPTIONS. |
WHEN
IS THE BEST TIME TO TALK TO SOMEONE ABOUT SCHEDULING CLASSES AND
TO LEARN HOW TO USE THE AUTOMATE BOOKING SYSTEM?
Someone
is usually available during class hours. We recommend
all our members to get familiar with our automated booking
system. it is the easiest, fastest, and most accurate
way to book classes. If you forgot your password or need
more info, call us or email us. |
HOW DO I BECOME A MONTHLY UNLIMITED MEMBER, BUY PACKAGES AND SIGN UP FOR CLASSES?
Through experience and thorough research we have selected a highly user friendly on-line system where you the member can be in complete control. Click here where you will be asked to create a profile, login and password. Once you have created an account you can view the class schedule or purchase a package that is right for you. Once you become a member to sign up for classes you will visit the Pilates Plus HBV site and click on the tab labeled sign up for classes where you will be asked for your login and password.

WHAT
SHOULD I EXPECT IF I AM NEW TO SPINNING?
Every class is a little different, but one of the great
things about indoor cycling is that it is adaptable to
your fitness level. With proper coaching, you can gauge
the level of the workout to match your own goals and abilities.
You'll be amazed at how quickly your fitness and strength
will build. Our instructors will actively coach you through
the basics on your first few visits.
|
WHAT
CLASS SHOULD I TRY FIRST IF I AM NEW?
Again,
most classes can be adapted to any fitness level, but
certain instructors do run classes that are easier to
handle. E-mail us and we will make a specific recommendation. |
WHAT
TYPE OF GEAR DO I NEED TO PARTICIPATE IN A SPINNING CLASS?
Comfortable
workout attire is all you need to get started. But the
right gear can make a great class even better. Padded
cylcling shorts and moisture wicking tops will make your
ride more comfortable and a heart rate monitor will help
you get the most from every workout. |
BIKES
AND SHOES?
We
have brand new Star Trac Nxt bikes. Sneakers are fine
but "clip-in" cycling shoes offer a more stable
position in the pedals enabling you to work more efficiently.
Pedal strokes become more powerful. |
HOW
MANY CALORIES ARE BURNED PER CLASS? This all depends on the individual and the exertion used. Research has shown that spinning can burn between 500 and 800 calories in a 45 to 55 minute time period. |
WHAT
ARE THE FITNESS BENEFITS?
Per
the U.S. Department of Health "......regular physical
activity substantially reduces the risk of coronary disease,
stroke, colon cancer, diabetes and high blood pressure....and
helps to control weight, contributes to healthy bones,
muscles and joints....reduces symptoms of anxiety and
depression...." Need we go on? Cycling is also "low-impact"
without the joint stress that you get from "ground-pounding"
sports and activities. |
